What do you do when you are sick?
The last four weeks have been so difficult. I have had a shocking cold, and my asthma has really flared up, after the cold moved to my chest. Two courses of antibiotics have halted, but not cured the chest infection, so I have been using my asthma nebuliser every three to four hours for the last four weeks.
School has been more than a little bit challenging, trying to work the use of the nebuliser in to times when the children do not need my help.
I have used the time (when using my nebuliser) to read up on Bible prophecies, so I believe that the Lord has brought this about to draw me closer to Him.
What about you? What do you do when you are sick?
I am the Lord that healeth thee. Exodus 15:26

I am a daughter of the King of Kings, seeking to live a godly life and mirror the love of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

I only have one child, so what works for me may not work for you…
I put all of my daughter’s work for the week in a 3-ring binder. Each subject has a section. At the beginning of the binder, I have her assignment sheet for the week.
For the do together stuff, Bible, Science/History, and/or reading, we sit in bed and I do those right away. If I’m feeling really bad, I either break up the reading into smaller sections or we may just skip it for the day and do more the next day. (I’ve also been known to find videos on the subjects being covered that day and pop those in for her to watch instead of me doing the reading.)
For the rest of her items, she’ll sit in bed with me and work on them. If she has questions, she can ask without me having to get up.
Thank you for that inspiration. Silly me…I plain forgot about the DVD’s that we have sitting in the cupboard.
Isn’t it always the way? We store up these things, and then forget them when we could use them the most!
In the past, when I was very ill, I would have the children sit at a table in my room to do their ‘school work’. I would be in bed – they would work quietly at the table to complete their bookwork, and then we would share stories or a video together.
It CAN be done – in fact, homeschooling is far better for a sick mother, as it means she does not have to run around getting the children to and from school, parent – teacher nights, and all the rest.
Concentrate on the basics – Maths, Literature, Writing, and the rest will come. Living Books are just wonderful – one of the best purchases we’ve made is the Story Book of Science – I read, they complete a notebook page, filling the page with a summary and illustrating it. Simple, fun, effective.
Take care of yourself!
