Quick Update on My Husband’s Health

Red rose

Today has been one of those days – firstly I went to see the physio and found out that I have a bulging disc in my spine, so at least I have a reason for the pain that I am suffering as a result of my fall down the cellar steps. Then we went shopping, during which time my husband retreated to the car, saying that he wasn’t feeling well. Afterwards we travelled home, and we had lunch when we arrived home, but my husband didn’t want any lunch – now, if you know my husband, you will also know that he doesn’t ever say no to food, especially lunch, no matter how sick he is. In fact, the sicker that he is, the more he eats – usually!

He just went to bed, saying that he was feeling cold – mind you, the temperature here has been in the mid-30′s, so that started ringing alarm bells. Then he said that he didn’t remember the journey home, so I phoned the doctor’s rooms and they told me to take him into the hospital. We saw the doctor, and she thinks that he is having withdrawal symptoms from the Fentanyl patches, which he had for the pain in his knee. He had to stop them, as he had a severe allergic response to them, coming out with HUGE spots all over his body, and they were increasing at an alarming rate. The hospital have kept him in for observation overnight, and hopefully he can come home tomorrow.

Please keep my husband in your prayers, as he is the earthly mainstay of our home. Our children have helped with most of the housework today, the ironing and milking of the goats, too, and I praise God that they have learned well, but I do so miss my husband – even if it is only for one night. He really needs to find some pain relief that works and that he is not allergic to, so any of you prayer warriors out there, please be praying for him – I know that I will be.

Oh, and please forgive me if I don’t get to visit your blogs for a short time – things here are pretty hectic at the moment, so hopefully, my friends, I shall see you all soon – God willing.

    Dear Jillian,
May the Lord bless and guide you and your family at this time. Don’t worry about commenting your family comes first.
My blog is down, this is a very busy season for us, so I felt it would be best for me, to just close it, as I work on all of my pictures and some HTML codes.

I have a disc on my spine which is half warn due to an injury and scoliosis, I found all of this out last summer during gardening season.
    Keep encouraged.
    ((((hugs))))

Your husband isn’t in one of those dreaded hospital waiting lists that keep moving his operation. Praying for your whole family that you will come through this with strength.

Hope all goes well Jillian, and your husband is able to find some relief. The Medication Maze can be a real problem to sort through – but wonderfully we know that God will guide you through it all! All the best. :)

    Hi Ruby,
My husband’s pain seems to be relieved in part by Kapanol capsules, which he had before, but the dosage has been increased. He can’t do much at the moment, and I can see this being a problem well before August, as he is not a happy chappy unless he is busy.

Thank you for praying for us, and I do pray that the Lord will strengthen us through this time.

    Hugs and blessings,
    Jillian ♥

God is always there for us, but it is during these times that I feel Him strengthening and carrying me once again. :)

I shall be praying for your spine, too.

    Jillian ♥

  15. Jillian says:

    Hi Jo,
My husband has been on the waiting list for three years, but when he phoned to see where his name was on the list, he was told that he had been placed on the indefinitely deferred list. Fortunately the specialist has moved him up the list, but it’s still a long wait until August.

Thank you for praying for our family – it is only through the difficult times that we are strengthened, so I take comfort in that, too. :) Thank you also for the Bible verse – I shall take that one with me each day. :D

    Hugs and blessings,
    Jillian ♥

  16. Jillian says:

    Hi Amy,
The best thing that could have happened, as it turns out, is that my husband was admitted to hospital in severe pain and problems with the patches, as they have actually listened to him, and changed his medication. He is now on Kapanol capsules, which he was on before, but they have doubled the dose, and that seems to be working better – for now, anyway. :)

It’s through the tough times that our God strengthens us and fits us for His service, so I take heart in that, too.

Have a wonderful and blessed week,
    Love, Jillian ♥

  17. Still praying for your dh but ouch! a bulging disc is not walk in the park either so prayers for you too eh!

  18. Jillian says:

    Hi Susan,
Thank you for your prayers, for they are very much appreciated. :D My back is much better since I have had Fentanyl patches, as I can’t take any pain medication internally – my stomach is very sensitive to almost everything at the moment, and I have to see a gastrologist in May, as my iron levels have dropped again. I wouldn’t have thought it possible after 10 iron injections only about a month ago! *shakes head*

    Have a great week,
    Love and blessings, Jill ♥
