One of those days
Today has been one of those days! It started out with my husband sleeping in, as he had a headache, so I arose and woke the children, in order to start the housework. Then, I was too wide awake to go back to bed, so I stayed up, too.
I had a shower and washed my hair, and then went to dry it – aargh! My hairdresser, who I have been going to for over 20 years, cut my hair differently, and it wouldn’t do anything that I wanted it to. I tried cutting it, but it was too hard, so I gave the scissors to my husband – a very brave move on my part, I know, but I was desperate. Well, to cut a long story short, or rather long hair shorter, I could finally get it to sit down, but now I am looking for a new hairdresser. I absolutely loathe going to a new hairdresser because not many will cut your hair the way that you want it. My hair is long, wavy (bordering on curly) and no amount of coaxing will get it to sit down when it’s thinned out, and that’s what nearly all hairdressers want to do with it, as it’s so thick. It’s better when I just leave the thickness there and work with it, instead of working against it.
We have also started a new curriculum this year, and it’s proving pretty slow going. I don’t know why – perhaps it’s just the heat.
It has been so hot here, and to top it all off, we had a power blackout for about two hours. We had no fans, air conditioner – nothing, and it was so hot that we nearly melted. I’m so glad that the power is finally back on, and when it cools down a little, I’m going to bed, and hopefully, tomorrow will be a better day.
Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

Isn’t it wonderful that God gives us a new day each morning! We can put yesterday behind us, where it belongs, and press on.
Funny to read about you being hot, as I shiver in my fleece in the cold.
Blessings,
Karen
Hi Karen,
Yes, isn’t it amazing how quickly we forget the trials and tribulations of the previous day?
Our children have been working exceptionally well, as they are only required to complete 2-3 pages of writing in their science and social studies each day, and some days they have been completing 7-8 pages. In the Home Education Manual, it states that ACE requires high school students to complete 24 pages (total) of PACES. I rang them and the children are only supposed to complete 2-3 pages for science and social studies, as it is so intensive.
Needless to say, I gave them Friday off for social studies and science, and we had a wonderful day…YAY!
The temperature for the last week has been 43C and next week is supposed to be 38-39C. Thank God for air conditioning that works!
We haven't started back to school yet ~ Monday. I am still waiting on music curriculum & bible studies but that's what I get for choosing international curriculum. Just the same it's a bit rich when I ordered waaaay back in November! Knowing I didn't quite have everything & we are just picking up exactly where we left off last year I'm not too stressed…yet.
Hi Ganeida,
That’s a long time to wait for curriculum, international or not. I haven’t waited any longer than about four weeks for curriculum from America.
Fortunately, we are now using PACES from Australian Christian Academy, and they only take a couple of weeks.
Things have settled down, now, but it is still so hot here…41C today, and no relief in sight.
Even the nights are warm.
Yeah, we looked at the Paces thing but it just wouldn't suit Ditz & I didn't like how it was geared. Mind you, I've been wrong before now & bought some absolute doozies of curriculum!
My supplier is really good so there's obviously a holdup in the line somewhere.
We're still hot & wet up here too. Silly time of the year to go back to school but because the schools do all our music starts back up & if we're doing music we do school. *sigh*.
