Feed My Sheep
A holy man spoke with the Lord about heaven and hell. The Lord said to the holy man, “Come, and I will show you hell.”
They entered a room where there was a large table, and a group of people sat around a huge pot of stew. Everyone was famished, desperate and starving. The stew made the holy man’s mouth water. Each person held a spoon that reached the pot, but each spoon had a handle so much longer than their own arms that it could not be used to get the stew into their own mouths. The suffering was terrible, and everyone sitting around the table were thin and sickly.
“Come, and now I will show you heaven,” the Lord said after a while. They entered another room, identical to the first — the pot of stew, the group of people, the same long-handled spoons. But there everyone was happy and well-nourished. “I don’t understand,” said the holy man. “Why are they happy here when they were miserable in the other room and everything looked the same?”
The Lord smiled, “Ah, it is simple,” he said. “Here they have learned to feed each other.”
The greedy think only of themselves.
When Jesus died on the cross, He was thinking of you!
Remember that I will always share my spoon with you.

Wow! That is actually very profound Jillian. That is something our little fellowship has been sharing on and talking about for some time now. I believe we actually have a responsibility to take in His Word, meditate on it, get understanding from it (revelation), THEN we have a responsibility to share (feed) it to others. It is in this way that His Body will be knitted together, built in wisdom and understanding. It causes the Body to function and be nourished.
Oh I could say so much more, but enough said for now. I loved it, thank you…
Love,
Amanda
ps. (lol, don’t you love ps’s!!!
)
This all ties in with the parable of the talents… keeping your talents (your revelation) to yourself, is like not using your spoon to feed another. It displeases the Father. Isn’t the Word wonderful how it just ties in from beginning to end??!!
I’ve heard this story before. But it’s been a long time. Glad you brought it back to my ears. Speaking of ears, I’ve come to believe that my children don’t like it quiet any time of day!! Not sure they know what quiet even is except when their mouth is full of food or their eyes are closed in sleeping!!
Hi Amanda,
You’re very welcome!
I agree – it is only through the sharing of God’s Word that the body (us) will be united, built up and grow.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Love,
Jillian ♥

Hi Tricia,
You’re welcome!
Don’t you love the sounds of children? They sure let you know that you’re alive, but I praise God for every bit of their noise.
Have a wonderful and blessed weekend,
Love,
Jillian ♥
That is a very good word picture of how the Christian life should be lived out in our daily lives.
Hi Homestay Mama,
Yes, it is.
God’s Word was always meant to be shared, not just kept locked inside us.
Have a wonderful and blessed week,
Love, Jillian ♥
