From the Rising of the Sun…

From the Rising of the Sun...

Everything that has Breath

Praise Him in the sanctuary
Praise Him in the mighty Heavens
Praise Him
All the earth praise Him

Praise Him in His awesome power
Praise His great and holy name
Praise Him
The whole world praise Him

From the rising of the sun
Let His praise be heard
From the east to the west
And the north to south

Let everything that has breath
Praise the Lord forever
Let everything in my soul
Praise the Lord!

O Love that Wilt not Let Me Go

George Matheson

Image from here.

George Matheson wrote this hymn after he became ill, and the doctors told him that he would lose his eyesight. He wrote to his sweetheart, informing her of his blindness, hoping that she would not want to let him go. He offered to release her from the engagement, and she said that she didn’t want to go through life with a blind man.

After several years of mental suffering, he wrote the words to this immortal hymn. He said that when he wrote this hymn, he was alone and the hymn took him no more than five minutes and has not been retouched or corrected. Isn’t it incredible what the hand of God can do, through the life of someone who is willing to be used?

O Love that Wilt not Let Me Go

O Love that wilt not let me go,
I rest my weary soul in thee;
I give thee back the life I owe,
That in thine ocean depths its flow
May richer, fuller be.

O light that followest all my way,
I yield my flickering torch to thee;
My heart restores its borrowed ray,
That in thy sunshine’s blaze its day
May brighter, fairer be.

O Joy that seekest me through pain,
I cannot close my heart to thee;
I trace the rainbow through the rain,
And feel the promise is not vain,
That morn shall tearless be.

O Cross that liftest up my head,
I dare not ask to fly from thee;
I lay in dust life’s glory dead,
And from the ground there blossoms red
Life that shall endless be.

Be Thou My Vision

Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart -
Nought be all else to me, save that Thou art;
Thou my best thought, by day or by night -
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.
Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise -
Thou mine inheritance, now and always;
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart -
High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art.
High King of Heven, my victory won,
May I reach Heaven’s joy, O bright heav’n's Son!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.
Trans. by Mary E. Byrne; Versified by Eleanor H. Hull

This would have to be my favourite piece of poetry, hymn and praise song. Its words have such depth of meaning, and it speaks to my ♥.

Today has been such a busy day, and our friend, Janice, and her daughter are here for the next couple of days. We had a wonderful day today catching up, and tomorrow, well who knows what tomorrow will bring. Janice’s daughter and my daughter have had such fun with the goat kids, and singing, laughing and watching Smile of a Child on free-to-air Satellite TV. This station is excellent, and you won’t find anything of objectionable content on it.

Tonight we had Quiche and salad, followed by Bread and Butter pudding and ice-cream, and it was absolutely delicious. Now, I will bid you all a very good night; see you tomorrow, and may all your dreams come from God.

I am the Lord’s

I am the Lords

This is a hymn that has so touched my heart! It was in a booklet called “My Heart – Christ’s Home” that I have been re-reading lately. Does it matter what you watch, what you read or what proceeds out of your mouth – it does to God, for He, through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit lives in your heart.

It is not up to us to keep our heart clear for Christ, though. We need to hand the title of our heart over to Him, so that He can keep our heart clean and pure, fit for the Master’s Use. The Lord should not be seen as simply a guest with us being the host, but the roles should be reversed. Our heart, if it belongs to God should be wholly His, and we should be the servant. Let Jesus take on the responsibility of keeping your heart and your life where it ought to be, for it’s much easier than trying to go it alone.

That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

Praise You Father

Heavenly Father, who has been with us from before the beginning of the world, I praise you and bless your Holy name. I thank you that you sent your Son, Jesus Christ to die for my sins, and that I am saved from the wicked one, by grace through faith. I thank you that you saved me even before I was knit together in my mother’s womb, even though I didn’t deserve your love, or your saving grace.

Thank you for blessing me with a kind and gentle husband, two loving children, our farm and animals, and for drawing me closer to you through baptism. I thank you for the quiet times that you spend with me each morning, and that you are willing to meet with me, for the times that we spend together are so precious.

As I see your wonderful Creation each day, I praise you. I lift up my voice in song and praise you with my whole heart, for you are a wonderful God, worthy of all our praise and honour, glory and majesty.

Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
