My precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you…

Our computer lessons for the last couple of weeks have involved learning how to use the “pen tool” in Adobe Photoshop CS4. For me this has meant a sharp learning curve, as my son has taught me how to add extra anchor points, how to edit nodes and adjust the handles, and we don’t have a graphics tablet, yet – this was all done using a computer mouse. A graphics tablet will be the next item on the ‘to purchase’ list.

Our project for this time was re-creating Patrick from SpongeBob SquarePants. My daughter and I really enjoyed learning how to use the pen tool effectively, and as he was so cute, it was fun.
Of course, this is just the beginning – there is so much more to learn, but that is what life is all about, isn’t it – learning all the time. To top it all off, my son is learning how to use the patience that God has given him, and his teaching skills are improving all the time. After all, isn’t that how we teach best – by learning first? Learning and teaching are so closely intertwined that it is difficult to separate them. I love it when our children can teach something back to me, as it is then, and only then, that I know that they have really understood the subject matter being taught.

This photo is one of my cat, Jeremiah, that my husband took last night. We tinkered around with it a little this morning in Photoshop, and made a birthday card for a very dear friend of ours. I hope that he likes it.

In the interests of uniting homeschoolers, I am happy to announce that
there is a new homeschooling forum for the purpose of buying and selling
homeschooling curriculum for all homeschoolers.
Another homeschooler, Dannye, has been the inspiration and encouragement
for this new forum, so most of the credit should and has gone to her.
The forum is Aussie Used Curriculum, and was designed from the ground up,
by my son, together with all of the AUC logos, smilies and images.
It just goes to show that anything can be achieved, if we, as homeschoolers stick together!

Yesterday, we started trying to install Creative Suite CS4 Design Premium Student Edition onto my son’s computer. He had already tried on Wednesday evening, without success.
However, we tried again yesterday, and tried and tried, but it wouldn’t install. Eventually, I reasoned that perhaps the DVD player was faulty, so my husband took the DVD player out of my computer and placed it into my son’s computer. We put the Creative Suite DVD into the computer and it started to install, so we continued with the install process. Eventually, it was installed, and the smile on my son’s face was a mile wide.
My son is ecstatic, and is busy learning how to use the programmes. The programmes that are included are:
When buying from Student Discounts, you will need verification that you are a home schooled student, but you could use your certificate of exemption if you are a registered home schooler. They will also accept a letter from the school that you are registered with. Adobe also ask for a photo of the student and proof that you are a student before you can register the product. The product cannot be used for commercial gain.
Student Discounts have many computer-based products, and they were extremely helpful.
