Bible Reading Plan for 2010

Bible
Today I was reading my blogging friends posts through Google Reader when I noticed Richele’s post about reading the Bible through in a year, so this started me thinking, and I have decided to adopt the “Read the Bible Through Chronologically in a Year” programme from The One Year Bible Online. This is something that I have been wanting to do for a very long time. We have completed this plan as a family, but I really want to do this again.

Isn’t it wonderful how blogging friends can encourage and support us in our walk with God? Thank you, Richele for your encouraging post, and may the Lord bless your Bible reading plan, too.

I am praying that God will help keep me on track with my Bible reading, and that He will open my ♥ and my mind to His Word. What about you – what are you doing for Bible study during 2010?

Hymn and Scripture Verse for December

MY SAVIOUR

I’ve a Saviour, kind and tender,

I’ve a Saviour full of grace;

And a smile of winning sweetness

Ever beams upon His face:

In my heart’s shrine of affection

He shall hold the highest place.

Refrain

How I love Him! How I love Him!

Since for me He bled and died;

How I love Him! Yes, I love Him

More than all the world beside.

For my sake He came from Heaven

To this world of sin and shame;

Bore my guilt, tho’ He was guiltless,

And tho’ blameless, took my blame:

Can I ever cease to love Him,

And His goodness to proclaim?

Refrain

Tho’ I’ve often been unworthy,

He has constant been, and true;

Tho’ I wronged Him, He forgave me

When I would my vows renew;

Tho’ I spurned Him, He with kindness

My rebellious heart did woo.

Refrain

I’ve a Savior, kind and tender,

He would be your Savior, too;

Will you not accept the pardon

Which He freely offers you?

Take Him now as your Redeemer,

Earth has not a friend so true.

Refrain

My husband chose this month’s hymn, and I think that he has done an excellent job. Our new memory verse for this month is Luke 1: 46-55, and this beautiful hymn or poem is known as “The Magnificat”.

NEW EYE OPENER

This list of omissions comes from a pamphlet called, “New Eye Opener”, which we received from a Christian friend of ours a long while ago, and that was just sitting on the shelf waiting for me to do something about it, but after reading Adrian’s post about the changes to the Bible, I thought that it was time that I posted it.

200 KEY REFERENCES show how all modern Bibles differ from the King James Version, and the Greek Textus Receptus from which it was translated.

These 200 omissions are in the Greek Textus Receptus from which the King James Bible came.
Griesback, Lachmann, Tischendorf, Tregelles, Alford, Wordsworth, Westcott and Hort: in footnotes and translations, have changed the Greek Textus Receptus in almost 6, 000 places. This is why we have so many omissions in our modern Bibles. Words omitted, in brackets, parentheses, or italics are counted as not authentic according to BRAIN-WASHED modern scholarship. With a red pencil, mark all these omissions which occur in your Bible and be surprised.

The Apostasy of the Early Church Prepares the Way for Corrupting Copies of the Original Manuscripts
Corruptions of the original Bible manuscripts and its influence can be traced from the days of Origen, 200 AD down through the committees responsible for the English Revised Version of 1881; American Standard Version of 1901; and all modern Bibles which depart from the Greek Textus Receptus. HERE’S THE ACID TEST
Any version of the Bible, that does not agree with the Greek Textus Receptus, from which the King James Bible was translated in 1611, is certainly to be founded upon corrupted manuscripts. Origen, being a textual critic, is supposed to have corrected numerous portions of the sacred manuscripts. Evidence to the contrary shows he changed them to agree with his own human philosophy of mystical and allegorical ideas. Thus, through deceptive scholarship of this kind, certain manuscripts became corrupt. Evidently from this source our modern revised version Bibles and paraphrases have come. Read pages 900-902, Vol. 16, 1936 edition Encyclopedia Britannica, and you will see that Origen taught that the Lord Jesus Christ is a created being who did not have external existence as God.

WATCH – AND REMEMBER – ALWAYS
TO KEEP BOTH EYES OPEN

“After my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also of your own selves shall men arise, SPEAKING PERVERSE THINGS, to draw away disciples after them, Therefore WATCH, and REMEMBER, that by the space of three years I ceased not to WARN EVERYONE NIGHT AND DAY WITH TEARS.” – Acts 20:29-31

GOD WROTE ONLY ONE BIBLE
This book reveals a secret plot of diplomatic trickery, which seeks to destroy the faith in the plenary-verbal (word-by-word) interpretation of the Bible. Modern versions and paraphrases cannot be the full and complete Word of God, when essential portions have been deleted. Bible text corruption is spiritual blood poison, and faith can be no more perfect that the Word which produces it.

For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

Isaiah 9:6

Bible

Have you ever read Bible verses that you have read many times and noticed something new, something so wonderful and awesome that you wonder how you didn’t see it before?

While I was spending my quiet time with the Lord this morning, I read Isaiah 9, and in verse 6, the words literally jumped out of the page at me. I have read this verse countless times before – in Christmas cards, in my Bible study time and in my quiet times but never before had I noticed the anomaly (maybe not the right word).

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6

How many children bear the title, “Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace, but our wonderful Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ bore these names from the very beginning?

God desires a deep and meaningful relationship with us, and it is up to us to search out the treasures hidden deep within His Word. Am I the only one that misses out on such important revelations from God’s Word – it saddens me that I have read this verse countless times and have never seen this, but I’m delighted that our great God has opened my eyes to the deep meaning behind Isaiah 9:6.

How many times do we skim over God’s Word, never actually seeing the beauty and wonder within? God is so patient with me, truly He is, as I would become so frustrated if it took my children so long to see things, as it does for me to see the revelations from God’s Word. Praise God that He is our marvellous, patient Heavenly Father and that we are saved by Him, by grace through faith.

Wisdom is something that I have been thinking about lately, as I have been reading Job, Psalms and Proverbs; and Wisdom is something that seems to appear frequently in these books.

We are told in Job 28:28 to…

Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding, and in…

Psalm 90:12 ~ So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom, and yet again in…

Proverbs 2:1-5 ~ My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee; So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding; Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

Today I was reading Proverbs 9, and there is still more about Wisdom. In Proverbs 9:1, I read, “Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars:” I wondered what the seven pillars were, so I started searching, and this is what I found. The seven pillars of wisdom are probably reflected in the seven attributes of heavenly wisdom found in James 3:17, and they are built on Christ, our one and only foundation, the only true source of wisdom. The seven pillars of true wisdom, not as the world sees it, nor as Satan does either, are:~

  1. Pure ~ being washed clean not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Ghost. (Titus 3: 5)
  2. Peacable ~ must be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient. In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth. And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will. (2 Timothy 2: 24-26)
  3. Gentle ~ a Christian should always be gentle (Galatians 5:22)
  4. Easy to be Intreated ~ I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. Romans 12:1
  5. Full of Mercy and Good Fruits ~ He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth: but he that hath mercy on the poor, happy is he. Proverbs 14:21
  6. Without Partiality ~ I charge thee before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality. 1Timothy 5: 21
  7. Without Hypocrisy ~ For the congregation of hypocrites shall be desolate, and fire shall consume the tabernacles of bribery. Job 15:34

Of course there are many more teachings on Wisdom, of which these are but a few, but I have really enjoyed learning about the true wisdom of God, what it constitutes, and how to become more like Him. With wisdom comes knowledge, and knowledge begets understanding, but it is important that the wisdom that we seek comes from God and His Word, and that it is not man’s wisdom that is with us for a while, and then, like the dust, vanishes away.

Do I always follow the seven pillars of true wisdom? No, I don’t think that there is anyone on God’s earth (who is honest with themself and God) who could truthfully say that they keep the seven pillars of wisdom, but with God’s help I am working on becoming more like Him and finding true wisdom.
