True Heart Award from Jennifer

Jennifer from My Chocolate Heart has bestowed on me the True Heart Award. This is a brand-new award created by Jennifer, and this makes my third award for this week – wow! Thank you, Jennifer for this award – it’s an honour to receive it.

“Those who receive this award are of the sweetest nature. They are kind, friendly, funny, loving, eager to share their love for Jesus with others, and brave in their efforts to reflect Him to this darkened world. They are the kind of folks you’re blessed to know, even if it’s only in the bloggy-sphere.”

My recipients for the True Heart Award are:

Therese at Aussie Coffee Shop

Ganeida at Ganeida’s Knots

Jeanne at ohpeacefulday

Mrs BB at Beyond Bluestockings

Bek from Bless This Home

Christine at The Home Truth

Karen from Our Little School Room

May this award bless you as richly as it did me, and please bless your friends by passing this award on to them.

Award from Ganeida, Too!

Wow, two awards in one night! Thank you, Ganeida – you’ve made one li’l country girl very happy, and saved me from wondering what I was going to write about tonight.

Now, I have to tell you seven things about me and then pass the award on to seven other bloggers.

  1. I am basically shy, and don’t find it easy to talk to people, except over the internet. It’s different, though, when I get to know the person.
  2. I was always sickly, spending about 1/2 (conservatively) of my life in hospital, that is until my husband came onto the scene; he has learned how to treat my asthma and keep me out of hospital.
  3. The reason that I am here is to live my life for God. Sometimes I don’t spend enough time with Him in prayer; sometimes I mess things up; sometimes I can have deep and meaningfuls with Him, but I’m glad that He forgives me my mistakes and that He’s always there for me.
  4. I love playing board and card games with the children. I don’t play chess – my husband does, and tried to teach me, but I think he’s given up.
  5. I love gardening, but not in this weather. It has to be warm for me to venture out into the great outdoors.
  6. I ran away from home at 18 months of age. Where did I run – to the hospital where my mum gave birth to me, of course. I also filled my mum’s washing machine up with sand – what a delightful child I was???
  7. Like Ganeida, I have never read Lord of the Rings. I just didn’t see the sense in reading something that, to me, had no literary value – I’m sure that there are many people who’d disagree with me, though. I’d much rather read a good biography any day.

Now for the next part – selecting the award recipients:

Well, that helped to fill in the night – I was wondering what I was going to do. Perhaps I should have been tackling my mending pile, but this was way more fun. Thanks, Ganeida and Therese, too for the previous award. :)

Honest Scrap Award

Therese from Aussie Coffee Shop has given me the honest scrap award, so thank you, Therese from the bottom of my heart. Therese has some wonderful articles on her blog, so pop on over to visit her.

Now, to keep this award, I must complete the following:

1) Say thanks and give a link to the presenter of the award.
2) Share “ten honest things” about myself.
3) Present this award to 7 others whose blogs I find brilliant in content and/or design, or those who have encouraged me.
4) Tell those 7 people that they’ve been awarded HONEST SCRAP and inform them of these guidelines in receiving it.

Here are the 10 honest things about me:

  1. I love my family and our home life, and will work hard to make our home a home that our family will cherish, both now and in years to come.
  2. I hate dirty dirt, and will go to enormous lengths to avoid it. Our driveway is clean rubble, and we have wood-chipped the front yard – told you I’d go to extraordinary lengths to avoid it. I detest mud!
  3. I’d love to visit Israel, but that probably won’t happen unless modern technology comes up with a miracle cure for asthma and a lack of spleen.
  4. I like living where we are, for it is close enough to family, without living in their pockets, so to speak. I love the time spent with my mum, as it is special when they visit.
  5. My most detested chore is mending – I have a mending pile that is growing bigger by the day. I need to be in the mood, have the sewing machine brought up from the cellar and find the patching material – ho-hum – maybe in the holidays? Can you guess that I’m not really a seamstress, or for that matter a sewer?
  6. My favourite meal is Beef Stir-Fry, and my husband does an excellent job of cooking it – never overcooked.
  7. Today it is warm in here, after my husband installed the blinds – broken finger and all, although I suspect that he is suffering for it, now.
  8. I don’t really like the winter months, although I love the rain. It’s the cold that I really don’t like, especially when it gets down to -8C in winter.
  9. My favourite movie (at the moment) is Amazing Grace. I especially liked this movie because prior to seeing it, I thought that the only places that Amazing Grace was sung at were funerals. It was lovely to hear it done well, and the reason that it was written.
  10. My favourite Christian artists are Chris Townend and Planet Shakers.

Boy, that was harder than I thought it would be, and now for the next part. The seven blogs that I would like to pass this award on to are:

  1. Jennifer at My Chocolate Heart
  2. Jess at Life and Times of Jess
  3. Ganeida at Ganeida’s Knots
  4. Skye at Warm Love
  5. Homestay Mama from Amazing Journey, Amazing Grace
  6. Alecat from Serenades and Solace
  7. and last, but by no means least Tania from Outback

My website has won Provision’s Featured Board Category for January 2009

Wow, I’m so excited! My website, Australian Secondhand Homeschool Curriculum and Books has won Provision’s Featured Board for January 2009. I’m really pleased because my son has spent so much time creating a new look forum, unique to me.

To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.

Psalm 30:12
