About

I am a Christian first and foremost, but am also a wife of twenty-three years to my husband who is kind, considerate and gentle, spending all of his time making sure that we are well-looked after. We also have two children, whom we are bringing up in the nurture of the Lord.

I was born in Broken Hill, the daughter of a miner, who left Broken Hill to join the South Australian Police Force. I grew up in Adelaide and spent much of my childhood in an oxygen tent in hospital, due to chronic asthma. My nanna spent much of her life taking care of me, and I miss her ever so much. She never had a harsh word to say to me or about me, and I loved her immensely. Eventually I graduated from Muirden Business College, completing year 11. At the time, I didn’t see the relevance of studying a commercial course, but God knew what I would need in the future, even though I didn’t. Since commencing homeschooling, I have seen the relevance of everything that I have learned.

I find it incredible that for every part of my life, God has gone before me and prepared the way. He has continued to bless us with every aspect of our life – our home life, homeschooling and in our walk with Him.

Our homeschooling journey has been very different to what we thought it would be. Firstly, we started out using an eclectic mix of homeschooling curricula, such as Bob Jones University, A Beka and Rod & Staff. As we became more confident with homeschooling, we progressed to Weaver, and our children absolutely thrived using this curriculum.

At the beginning of last year, we made the change to Australian Christian College, using the PACE system of workbooks, and I have been impressed with the quality and Christian content of the PACE’s. Our son has almost finished his year 10 certificate and this year will go on to start work on his year 12 Academic Certificate, while our daughter will continue to study for her year 10 Academic certificate this year.

I want God’s love and grace to permeate my life so completely that when people see me, they don’t see me at all, but the wonderful love of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ perfected in me.

My blog, Footprints Diary is about our journey as homeschoolers, and is about the everyday situations that we encounter, as well as our triumphs and tribulations. I am not perfect, but through God’s grace and love, He is changing me into the image of His glory daily.

I praise God every day for the privilege of being able to home school our children, and for His continual blessings toward us. I am thankful that He has considered me worthy of looking after His children, and I hope that one day He will say, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”
